Today was a great day because last night I actually slept through the night! Step one in my adjusting to living here in London :). After sleeping in until after 11:00, my roommate and I had breakfast and then made ourselves lunch to eat on our afternoon bus tour. Then we went on the tour! We drove through the two cities in London (City of London and City of Westminster), by a myriad of monuments and museums, and over the Tower Bridge (you know, the pretty one on which the olympic rings hung). We got to get out a couple of times as well which was nice: once around Parliament and Westminster Abbey, once at the Thames by the Tower Bridge, and once by Buckingham Palace. At Buckingham Palace we saw the changing of the guards, which may have been the exciting spectacle most people go to watch, but instead it was a slow, quiet switch of shifts of just a few guards because... the Queen is out of town! Apparently she gets like 8 weeks vacation in the winter. Vacation from what? Not sure :). Then my friends and I went to the little shopping area near by, did some errands, and then returned to our "flats" (thats what they call them here) to have a quiet evening and watched movies. We decided to stay in tonight in order to save money and more easily wake up semi-early tomorrow to go on a tour of Camden Market... so be looking forward to that tomorrow!

Word of the day:
A "sachet" is like a pouch. Not sure if this is a British word or just new to me... BUT, here, the "instant porridge" (which I bought because they do not have instant oatmeal but it's really about the same) comes in sachets with little lines on them that are meant to measure out the perfect amount of milk to put in the porridge. Such a smart, practical idea! Yay Brits.
